General Surgery

The origin of word surgery from the term "chirurgiae" in Latin means "manual labor". Surgery is one of the oldest branches of medicine that treats diseases, injuries or structural defects of the body that cannot be treated by medication or other treatment methods. The first archaeological operation was carried out in Egypt in 3500 BC.
General surgery also aims to protect not only by surgery but also by preventive medicine.
The Department of General Surgery works in cooperation with all other departments due to the wide scope of work of this department. The Department of General Surgery works in the areas of affected organs and different cases in other department as patients who have experienced severe trauma.
Screening and detailed follow-up programs for early diagnosis of some cancers such as breast cancer are performed in general surgery.
