Yeditepe University Hospital’s Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Department treats tumors of the head and neck and equilibrium problems in multidisciplinary collaboration with other Yeditepe University Hospital Departments.The Department treats diseases of the middle ear, eardrum and facial nerves as well as diseases that occur between the middle ear and the brain. DIZZINESS CLINICThe Yeditepe University Hospital Dizziness / Vertigo Clinic investigates the underlying causes of dizziness and lack of equilibrium and offers personalized solutions accordingly.Dizziness is a symptom, not a disease. The word “dizzy” encompasses multiple descriptions of symptoms – lightheadedness, swimming sensation, wooziness, unsteadiness, floating, imbalance, tipping, spinning or vertigo.The causes of dizziness are as varied as their clinical descriptions and can include different structures, from the inner ear to the brain. Feelings of dizziness or vertigo may be caused by an infection or disease in the inner ear. For example, one possible cause is labyrinthitis, which is inflammation of the inner ear. Meniere's disease and benign positional vertigo are other inner ear problems that can trigger dizziness.Neurological causes of dizziness include multiple sclerosis, stroke, migraine and, rarely, tumors. Dizziness can be caused by fatigue, stress, fever, low blood sugar, anemia, head injury and heart or circulation problems. It can also be caused by some medications. Some psychological problems can cause dizziness.
