Up to now, there are about 40 types of adenoviruses that have been identified. This disease has symptoms like flu and the commonly attack to children. Pharyngitis, cough, rhinitis, and swollen lymph nodes are other symptoms that can arise. In most cases, these diseases also cause infection of the middle ear, or otitis media.

Factors that can increase the risk of adenovirus infection:

  •      Childhood
  •      Exposure to cough or sneeze of an infected person
  •      Exposure to fecal contamination (eg, water zarazhennaya, poor hygiene)
  •      Consumption of food contaminated by flies
  •      Transmission from person to person, especially in close contact with each other (for example, in military units)
  •      Swim in a lake or pond.
Adenovirus infection symptoms is depending on where the infection occurs, may include: Fever; Flu-like symptoms; Sore throat; Cold; Cough; Hyperadenosis; Inflammation of the middle ear;  Problems with the lower airways;  Diarrhea; Gag; Headache;  Abdominal cramps; Frequent urination; Combustion, pain, and / or blood in the urine;  conjunctivitis;Red eye; and inflammation of the cornea.

Prevention
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a hand or cloth when coughing and sneezing.
  • Wash hands before eat something and after defecating. Do the same after making contact with public facilities, such as touching the handle of the door opening or holding minimarket on the train or bus. Wash your hands before preparing food.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
