What is breast cancer screening ?

Breast cancer becomes palpable in about 8-10 years. Currently by means of screening tests which are mostly dependent to digital mammography and other imaging technologies breast cancer can be detected 3-4 years before it is palpable. We aim to detect breast cancer as early as it can be cured with treatment and before it is palpable with our tomosynthesis performing digital mammography and other imaging modalities and treat them with breast conserving methods which have best cosmetic results. We are able to detect cancer even when lesions are 4-5 mm in dimensions with high quality screening.

How many years are you dealing with breast radiology?

More than 25 years of my 30-year long career, I am dealing with breast radiology. Breast Radiology is a separate division in our institution and we perform more than 15,000 exams each year. 

What is the incidence of breast cancer?

It is the most common cancer in women and affects one out of every 7-8 woman.

 What is tomosynthesis?

Tomosynthesis is an scanning method that image breast in thin slices which decreases the posibility of missing cancer. We perform tomosynthesis in our institution successfully.

What is breast biopsy?

We perform biopsy for suspected breast lesions to rule out malignancy. State of the art biopsies are performed under the guidance of ultrasound,  tomosynthesis and MRI in our institution.We prefer vacuum biopsy when necessary and also care about the evaluation of the samples which are evaluated  by our experienced pathologists  who are well known about breast pathology in Turkey.
