Gastroduodenoscope: Gastroduodenoscope is an imaging device. The device enables detailed examination of the area up to the intestines by the help of a mini camera inserted into the mouth.
The mini camera reflects each point in the inner surface of the stomach and duodenum starting from the esophagus and the changes in these areas onto the screen of the device. These images provide great convenience for the doctor for diagnosis. Situations such as inflammation, tumor and bleeding in these organs are identified at an accuracy rate of almost 100% during the medical examination.
The device enables the endoscopy specialist to see the changes in very early phases which are difficult to be understood with radiological studies. Small pieces are taken for microscopic examination (biopsy) in suspected situations. In addition, small formations, such as intestinal polyps, are treated through endoscopic surgery.
Biliary tract stones are taken out and some strictures are dilated using some accessories. Foreign objects (such as swallowed needle, coin) are taken out using this device without the need of a surgical intervention.
Sigmoidoscope: Sigmoidoscope provides image of different body parts through a mini camera. Sigmoidoscope enables detailed examination in the 60 to 70-cm part of the colon, after the device is advanced via anus. The interventions carried out in the upper digestive organs using a gastroduodenoscope device can be made in the final part of the colon using sigmoidoscope.
Colonoscope: Colonoscope provides similar opportunities like the other two imaging devices in different areas. Especially, the early diagnosis of colon cancer is successfully made through the colonoscope. Colonoscope enables the examination of the final part of the colon and small intestines. Examinations carried out using this device provide great convenience in diagnosis and treatment. Therapeutic procedures can be also carried out through this device.
The Gastroenterology Unit of the Turkiye Hospital provides service using these technical devices.
