Gynecology

Gynecological surgeries due to technological advances are made using the most advanced techniques.

Gynecological surgical operations are made by preferring use of current techniques such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy. Laparoscopic hysterectomy, urinary incontinence surgery, pelvic floor reconstruction and plastic surgery oft heard as ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy and hysterectomy in recent years are applied. Gynecologic oncology operations are carried out with experienced consultant physicians in gynecologic oncology operations.

For women, who want to have children but do not become pregnant, some necessary tests are requested. In infertility researches, appropriate treatment method is applied after detection of the problem. In necessary cases, the patient is provided to be mother with the insemination (vaccination) method or in vitro fertilization method.

Comfortable Operation Laparoscopic Hysterectomy in Women

Operations applied by making a big cut on the venter are being a thing of the past. The most important developments in modern medicine is the laparoscopic surgery changing the approach significantly in surgical approach. Many operations applied previously by making a big cut on the venter have been carried out with laparoscopy in the present time. In present time, hysterectomy (uterus taking) is made safer with laparoscopic techniques thanks to medical devices developed.

Use of laparoscopy in the operations becomes widespread especially in the general surgery industry in our country as in the world. While laparoscopic cholecystectomies were made in periods open in the general surgical branch, performance of them was within the rates of 1% when laparoscopic method is started to be applied. Today, most of laparoscopic cholecystectomies is performed laparoscopically.

Hysterectomy (removal uterus) is the most commonly performed gynecological surgery all over the world as in our country. It is expected that hysterectomy operation is made unfortunately at the latest rates of 1% through laparoscopic hysterectomy. Increasingly, it will increase with the use of these rates widely. With this method, skin and venter layers of patient are not cut, a very good image consists cosmetically but the most important is that the patient can stand up in a very short period of time and can return to the work as soon as possible. Because the most important reason of this is that there is not any deterioration as in the open operations and there is a less tissue damage, it is observed that laparoscopic hysterectomy patients can walk around as if they did not have any surgery within 4-5 days when they come to the control after they are discharged.

Technological Progress in Surgery

In parallel to the dizzying developments experienced in the field of technology, in the world of medicine, great improvements have become in recent years. One of the most important of these developments in the surgical field is laparoscopic surgery, also known as the gold standard. With settlement of surgery in medical science, medicine, which stepped into new age in itself, has experienced perhaps its second great revolution with laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopy known as bloodless surgery or closed surgery among the people is monitoring of ventral cavity with endoscopic surgery and performance of the operation. Endoscopes can be directed toward the surgeon's workspace. Small vessels and channels can be seen 16-20 times larger so that this provides with safer operation.

The development of laparoscopic surgery is based on date back to old times. Since the beginning of the century, various steps have been taken in this area. However, it was too late to put this method of general surgeons into surgery but this method is started to be applied in 1980s. The first application of this method was made in 1989 in France. After laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the popularity of this technique has spread all over the world in 1990s.

This method has also started to be applied in the early 1990s in our country. Arrival of the method to Turkey is almost at the same time with the start of application on all over the world. In the present time, laparoscopic surgeries are replacing open surgeries. With the developing medicine, Laparoscopy replaces open surgeries due to being a method providing the patient return to life in a short time and reduction of the burden of the surgery.

Factor that makes this technique so popular is that the person reaches his/her activity before the operation within a few days from the perspective of patients. For surgeons, being more reliable at the same time with conventional surgical method of operation and also performing treatment, which will the least damage to the patient, may be shown.

Advantages

  • Because there are not any large tissue cuts , smaller wound scars may remain, there is not bleeding or the bleeding is the least amount.
  • Postoperative pain is minimal.
  • Infection rate is lower because there are not any large cuts.
  • Recovery is faster. Business power loss is reduced to a minimum. The average duration of the patient's return to work is average 7-15 days. (This period is 6-7 weeks in conventional operation).
  • Herniation chance is reduced in the wound place.
  • When performed by an experienced team, it is a safer method.
  • During an operation, chance to turn back to the open surgical operation when encountered with difficulties continues.

Operations made with Laparoscopy

Hysterectomy, myomas (uterine fibroid): The removal of myomas without hysterectomy.

Extra uterine pregnancy: Determination of extra uterine pregnancy and removal of it safely.
